Balmuri and Edmuri Waterfalls

Travelling towards the Krishnarajasagar Dam from the city of Mysore, the main road takes a detour and three kilometers ahead of that detour are the most popular waterfalls in the city of Mysore which are the Balmuri Waterfalls and Edmuri Waterfalls. Surrounded by lush green natural beauty, the location serves as a picturesque hotspot for tourists as well its natives who live there and enjoy every part of it. Near these waterfalls, there is enough space to spread your picnic mats and enjoy goodies, playing around. You can also pay a holy visit to the temple of Lord Ganesha that is very close-by. It's a small ancient temple.

To reach here, you will be required to hire a taxi or an auto. You can also be here through a KSRTC bus that takes you to the KRS Dam. The place is perfect to give you a wonderful holiday or picnic experience, the ambiance being really very pleasant.

At a distance of just about 2kms from KRS dam, there is a small and lovely island that got created by the backwaters of KRD dam itself, enchanting everyone who is around. Bandipur National Park is considered to be one of the most lovely and the well-managed national parks in India. Located amidst the picturesque surroundings of the towering Western Ghat Mountains on the Mysore-Ooty highway in Karnataka, Bandipur National Park covers an area of about 874.2 sq km. Together with Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala and Nagarhole National Park in the North, it creates the India's biggest biosphere reserve popularly known as the 'Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve'. The park lies enroute the highway to Ooty and there is a special safari point in the park where people undertake their picnics. The cost per trip for Indian citizens is INR 300 and for foreigners is INR 1100.
